Zaven, head of the Competition team, discusses the broad range of clients and industries our Competition team represents, including major national and international retailers such as the Just Group, MECCA, and the Spotlight Group, as well as major online players such as Kogan. Zaven explains the team's involvement in both regulatory investigations and litigation, working closely with regulators like the ACCC and ASIC.
Michael provides an overview of his day-to-day experiences, from finalising briefs for Federal Court proceedings to advising on consumer-facing materials for issues like greenwashing. He explains the broad scope of the practice, covering competition law, consumer law, trademark and copyright issues, and court procedures. Michael explains that: "you get exposed to so many different areas of law and types of cases, which is fantastic for learning and development".
The episode also explores the collaborative nature of the Competition team, working cross-practice with other departments at ABL.
