Lawyer Spotlight: Meet Tim Graham

Taxation
Arnold Bloch Leibler In conversation with Tim Graham article

Introducing Tim, a Tax lawyer from our Melbourne office. We sat down with Tim to discuss his practice, the ABL tax team, and his involvement with our public interest department.

Can you tell us a bit about the type of work you do?

I would describe my practice as broad. I work with a diverse range of clients – from private groups and high net-wealth individuals to public companies and not-for-profits. I handle all kinds of tax disputes, including ATO reviews and litigation in the AAT and Federal Court. I advise on a broad range of tax issues including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border arrangements, corporate structuring, and trusts. No two matters are the same and it makes the work challenging but rewarding.

What do you appreciate most about working with the ABL tax team?

ABL’s tax team is incredibly close-knit. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with some of the best legal and tax minds in the profession. The collaborative and supportive culture has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. Working at ABL has been rewarding and genuinely enjoyable. From day one I’ve felt like a trusted and valued member of the team.

As a lawyer, you’re encouraged to be independent and accountable. More importantly, you’re given the responsibility to take ownership of your matters from beginning to end, and to advocate for clients when it matters most.

Can you tell us about your involvement with ABL’s public interest team?

ABL’s Public Interest team is truly special and I’m proud to be given the opportunity to advise not-for-profit and pro bono clients. The firm has a deep commitment to public interest work and has built strong, lasting relationships with First Nations clients and their causes. The team works closely with most departments across the firm, which has given me the opportunity to work with First Nations clients and other purpose-driven organisations to navigate the complex tax and regulatory environment.
